As a student in IS, Colin's focus is on fictional narrative. He is also pursuing a concurrent degree in Honours Philosophy. Colin's studies include the examiniation of fictional narratives in novels, graphic novels, comics, video games, television, movies, presentations, debates and even advertising. While the breadth of fields he studies is great, he is less concerned about medium and more about mechanics - content over presentation. His aim is to be able to produce written narratives in a variety of fields, with a high degree of quality.
On the topic of his studies, Colin comments, "In the end, I love to create things. Stories are the perfect creative vessel, since anything can be made in any way, and the only limit is your own skill with words. There's magic in stories." When asked what sort of magic, he declined further comment.
Beyond his studies Colin carries an eclectic array of hobbies, including carpentry, wood carving, electrics, computer programming, computers in general, graphic arts, and animation. He enjoys painting, cooking, sewing, dancing, running, and curling. Naturally enough, writing and reading are favourites.
Colin ran the Manitoba Go Club for a few years, the UW Club since he arrived, and one year he hosted the Canadian Open, the National tournament. He also runs a few online groups, and visited over 90 European and North American clubs. Colin has been asked to present at the Montreal Go Convention this August 09.
He is bilingual in French and English, and has travelled around the majority of Western Europe on foot.
