EDUCATION: BA in Honours German Applied Studies Co-op with specializations in International Trade, German Communication and German Cultural Studies.
EXTRA ACTIVITIES: Jasmin is an entrepreneur. She is the acting CEO and GM of an agricultural manufacturing company called Energrow (www.energrow.ca) that designs and manufactures farm-scale oilseed pressing systems. Jasmin is an avid cyclist and outdoor enthusiast. I am the former president of the University of Waterloo Cycling Club, where I raced competitively in provincial mountain bike events under the sponsorship of True North Cycles, a local custom bicycle manufacturer. I love yoga, strength training, running, hiking, snowshoeing and almost any outdoor activities! I am also a paper-cutting (‘Scherenschnitte’) artist in my spare time and love to travel and immerse myself in other cultures.
IS COURSE DETAILS: I only took one Independent Study course during my studies. The primary reason was to complete the required number of courses for my undergraduate degree. More importantly, I chose IS over any other courses available to me because IS gave me the opportunity to be more independent in my studies and pursue a topic of interest I took a lot of interest in – renewable energy and on farm value-adding. My project focus was on the renewable energy technologies, specifically the trends and availability of renewable energies to farmers and the effect of these technologies on the farm structure, economics, and sustainability when introduced.
