I spent a year in pmath here at UW before discovering the liberty of IS. The areas I cover in my thesis (pending approval Dec 07) are: linguistics, languages, and cultural studies.

I'm based in Toronto, and I'm usually musing about language, playing the piano, or posting malformed scribbles on deviantart. In my spare time, I'll mentally scoff at bystanders' bad English, and read copious amounts of not-so-popular and obscure books. (As of November 2007, these books include: Markings by Dag Hammarskjöld, and Parasite Eve by Sena Hideaki.)

Interests I have (unrelated to my thesis) include: typography, interface design, knot theory (the mathiness of tying string), ethology (the study of animal behaviour), cultural history before the 20th century, stenography and cryptology.
