As an Independent Studies student you can access Services available to all University of Waterloo students, such as Health Services, financial help, and Arts Mature Students Office. You have selective access to laboratory and other facilities in each of the six faculties under the authorization of an IS academic advisor, a course advisor, or your thesis supervisors.
Although the entire campus is your classroom, Independent Studies students do have a place to call home.
The Independent Studies facilities are located on the lower floor of the Modern Languages (ML) building. It's a great place to meet other students in the program, compare notes on your projects, and join in informal discussion groups.
Recent discussion groups have included thesis support and resume/portfolio development.
Student Presentations are student organized and hosted.
Help The Society of Independent Students arrange these activities and other special events.
